Is SF even still occupied? I have not been there for a long while... Maybe it is worth a look again, but I doubt it. After clearing out the underworld and fissure of woe, Sorrow furnace is so easy by comparison it feels like I'm locked on easy mode anymore... It lost its luster of enjoyment after completing my quests. I have long since moved on to bigger and better things... The elite missions have only one downside that I can find. It makes the rest of the game a little too easy after being in such hard areas like the Tower of strength and power or the spawning pools in the underworld... I normally have to not play for a few weeks and n00b myself up in some way to have fun again in regular missions... Unless I'm just with some friends or something. then its just fun to play with them... I can see me spending a lot of time in cantha just for the new challenge... and only going back to Tyria for occassional underworld, fissure quests... However from some things I have seen Factions will have "SOME" special quests for people that have both games that will involved going back and forth between cantha and tyria to complete. IDK. I guess time will tell. I kinda like the idea of a few special quests for people that have both games and want to span both lands to complete them...

Me too. It's still pretty busy there. I did an Oro run the other day with my SS and made a sweet 85k.

I like the idea of greens. Makes it possible for non-farmers to get perfect weapons. Let the rich deal in gold weapons.

In response to the initial premise, I disagree. Overusing superlatives is the worst thing ever.

Although it's not being overused in your sentence, I still find it funny that "worst thing ever" is superlative

And you've got to love threadomancy, but I still think there are people that missed the point of green items entirely. I don't think i've ever sold a green item for profit, nor have I bought any (save one domination staff) from another player.

An important economic note: if there wasn't a market for green items, nobody would farm them. Until you can stop people from buying things, there will always be an enterprising person(s) out there willing to farm for desired items.

(I do think its screwing the economy, but I guess Anet knows better then I do.)

But about getting no items above 7K in an hour, I believe there have been several posts/threads, about that (I believe)75% of the ppl doesnt have more then 20K. 5 hours and you are way above that 20K. But I guess rich to u means like 10000K.
Ever go to Fissure of Woe, Tomb of the Primeval Kings, or Underworld? They are alot better for making money than Sorrow's Furnace. Much faster.

85% of all green items are worth less than 8k. The chances of getting more than 1 green item (any green item) per run is about 20%.

Just kind of obvious that you've never been in an SF farming group before.

People are becoming obsessed of farming because of this green items. Make the public channel at Warcamp more annoying. It is bad enough people post their item for sale on public channel.

I really think the auction system whatever it ends up being will fix a few problems in the trade system... Most of what I have in inventory that my guildies already have or don't want will be making an appearance on the Auction house system ASAP. I want to give it a real test. I'm offering ectos, I'm offering dyes, I'm offering greens, Strings, Hafts, Runes, Anything I have in stored inventory. I want to see how well this system is going to work. Time will tell. I am hoping it will basically be I set a price and 1st come 1st serve to get the item for that price. If price is too high I can change it to lower the price. that kind of thing. Basically I want it to be something I can give to a vendor walk away and play for a bit and come back to see if it sold yet. if not lower the price or remove it from the market. The key factor for me will be The place it and forget it factor. I want to play the game, not sit around spamming WTS waiting for the right idiot to come along to buy it, then have them more then likely scam me for my efforts... No . Its not worth wasting the time to do it the way it is currently.

Wow, would never have thought this topic would come back.

To those quoting me on the 'get rich in an hour' thing, you have to realise it was what, 5 months back? The economy was a lot more different back then, but more importantly, I was dumber .

I don't agree with my post in the OP anymore, but editing it would look rather silly I guess .

My opinion nowadays is that it was actually a good move of Anet, they made it easier for the casual player.

I am usually against farming but in this case, since there is no green item trader, the only impact the farming will have on the economy is the gold brought in while fighting to get the green item and not the item itself. However since its teams of like 5 going out to farm then whatever gold that does drop is divided by the 5 people so there really won't be any impact on the economy. I've also seen no change in the price of rare (gold) weapons and offhands as a result of greens coming in, still being sold for 50 to 100k for perfect (sometimes more). I really don't get the big deal about them anyway. Yeah sure they are max dmg, low req with great bonuses but no mods. The last I checked you can't put mods on green weapons. This makes rare weapons more customizable and is probably why the prices are still high for them as seen in Lion's arch. Sure the prices have dropped for some but from what I've seen those are the rare weapons and offhands that everyone seems to have and are trying to sell while noone is buying. I will always use gold over green. If I want to change from a perfect vampiric bow to a poisonous bow, rather than find another green weapon, I'll just get the different bow string.

Rich? Please. There's about 5 greens left that are actually worth anything. I think greens were a bad idea for a whole different reason - they killed the value of some of the gold items. Greens should've all had basic skins, like crafter and collector's items, so people who actually paid for their 15^50 fellblade would be recognized and not look identical to every noob with a victo's sword.

Greens are a good thing, because they level the playing field and let virtually everyone get their hands on perfect items, but green shadow shields, shadow staffs and fellblades were a bad move IMO.
